Burgos is the capital of the province with the same name placed on the North-East of  the autonomous community of Castile and Leon. This province houses a rich historical and archaeological heritage, making the city a worldwide reference and a cultural tourist attraction. Among its historical landmarks are the majestic Gothic Cathedral (UNESCO-Human World Heritage), the Las Huelgas Monastery and the  Miraflores Charterhouse; the Castle of Burgos, and the way of pilgrimage Camino de Santiago (UNESCO-Human World Heritage). Outside the city, there are various archaeological sites, such as the sites of Sierra de Atapuerca (UNESCO-Human World Heritage), some ichnofossils, as well as the Museum of Dinosaurs in Salas de los Infantes, and Roman archaeological sites like Clunia or Segisama. Moreover, the rich natural heritage of the Burgos landscape must also be highlighted, for instance the Ebro river Canyon, the Caderechas valley or the Ojo Guareña caves.

On the city center, due to the important archaeological heritage of the region, we can find important institutions involved in the study and divulgation of such heritage: the Museum of Burgos, the Museum of Human Evolution (MEH) or the Spanish National Research Center for Human Evolution (CENIEH).

The X JIA meeting will be celebrated at the Faculty of Law (Hospital del Rey, s/n 09001), University of Burgos. It takes only 25 minutes walking from the Cathedral, placed on the city center, but there is also a good bus communication. University map here .
